Samsung Galaxy A53 review
Samsung Galaxy A53 review
What’s happening everyone my name is nomi and welcome back in today.
We’re taking a quick look at one of the latest mid-range devices from Samsung called the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G review. So this is a device that looks pretty similar the more expensive Samsung galaxy S22. Even though this one is about half the price of the S22 but of course with a lower price.
You do have to lower your expectations a bit all right so we’re starting with a super quick unboxing.
Now this device comes in a smaller box the box is about the same size as the box that you get on the Samsung galaxy S22 and that means one thing it means that you’re not gonna find a charger in the box so you do have to buy your own charger for this device. Unless you have a charger at home from an older device.
in the box you’re basically going to find them some booklets and the usb to a usb cable the device supports 25 watt fast charging so the same fast charging that we get on the samsung galaxy S22.
The design of the galaxy A53 is pretty up to date. I’m gonna say mostly compared to other devices that we got in the past couple of weeks like the iPhone SC 2022. That phone looks like it’s coming from 2015.

So on the front of this one we have a 6.5 inches super amoled screen that has a 1080p resolution and a refresh rate of 120 hertz. So the same refresh rate that we find on the Samsung galaxy S22 the peak brightness for this screen is 800 nits so not as high as other competing devices available on the market. And definitely not as high as the peak brightness that you’d get on the Samsung galaxy S22 the screen also has an in-screen fingerprint scanner the fingerprint scanner works pretty decent. I’m gonna say takes about a second from the time you actually touch the screen on your finger for the screen to unlock and of course the phone also supports face unlocking as well. If you don’t want to touch the screen you can just look at the phone and the screen will unlock with your face. So you have those some options available at the top of the screen there we have a 32 megapixel front-facing camera and it’s worth mentioning that the device can record in 4k 30 frames per second with that front-facing camera. A lot of competing devices can only do 1080p with the front-facing camera now you can’t really see the cut out just above that selfie camera but there is a cutout for a speaker at the top there so the device has two speakers one that’s sitting at the top and one that’s sitting at the bottom.
A good thing definitely because a lot of cheaper devices don’t have two speakers and i guess i can actually show you a quick example so you can hear how those two speakers sound.
It’s also worth mentioning that this device is water resistant so it has an ip67 rating and that means that you could take this some phone swimming for example and nothing would happen to it alright the phone’s frame seems to be made out of plastic on the left hand side of the frame there is nothing on the right hand side.
We have the power button and the volume keys at the top we have a hole for a second microphone. I’m gonna assume and at the bottom we have the sim card slot. we have a hole for a speaker. we have the usb charging port and the holes for that second speaker. That I mentioned earlier and this device can take two sim cards at the same time or a sim card and an SD card at the same time.
This particular device that i have here is the European version so at least with this one you can install an SD card or two sim cards moving on to the back of the device. The device does look quite appealing from the back and as I said it does look a bit like that Samsung galaxy S22 however the back here is made out of plastic and I have to say does feel a bit cheap.
Not sure if you can actually hear that but yes the back does feel a bit cheap.
On the back there we have four cameras. We have the main camera that’s a 64 megapixel main camera that one supports optical image stabilization then we have an ultra white camera that’s a 12 megapixel sensor then we have a macro camera another camera that’s used for portrait mode pictures.
I will be doing some camera comparisons between this phone and a couple of other phones but that’s gonna be coming in a day or two as soon as we get some better weather it’s also interesting to see that the camera app on this device is pretty similar to the camera app that we get on the Samsung galaxy S22. The maximum recording resolution for the main camera so we currently have the main camera there is 4k at 30 frames per second you can also do 1080p at 60 frames per second and the maximum recording resolution for the ultra wide camera once again is 4k at 30 frames per second but you could also do 1080p at 60 frames per second. We also have a night mode available as well and it seems that the night mode is available. for the ultra white camera and for the main camera and as I said I will be doing some camera comparisons in the near future so check out the GMOArena.com for those some camera comparisons in a couple of days. Performance wise the galaxy A53 5G is powered by the exynos 12 8 this is in fact the first device using that CPU that I’m trying so i haven’t tried any other ones in the past and you can get this device with either six or eight gigs of Ram 128 gigs of internal storage or 256 gigs of internal storage. And for those of you that like benchmark scores this device gets a handle to benchmark score of about 367000 or a multi-core score on the geekbench 5 of 1859 or a single core score of 530 so definitely not the highest scores that I’ve seen for a mid-range device the device runs android 12. On top of that we have Samsung’s one ui 4.1 smoothness wise it does feel quite smooth at the moment however I am currently trying out another mid-range device.
That performs a bit better than this one I can’t really talk about the other device. Quite yet but i will be making a full comparison between these two devices.
In the upcoming days so far for the apps that I’ve tried. I didn’t actually trade at the many apps. Because i just got the phone a couple of them hours ago so far the apps that I’ve tried do performance okay. But i did see other devices that are smoother, but this is mostly the case with a lot of newer Samsung devices it takes Samsung a couple of weeks to send some updates so that the devices become a bit smoother.
So yes this device will get better in the future inside this phone. We also have a 5000 mAh battery.
The device doesn’t support wireless charging but at least that 5000 mAh
battery is way bigger than the battery that we get in the Samsung galaxy S22, So I’m expecting to get pretty good on screen on time on one charge.
Samsung Galaxy A53 review
I still have to test that out but I will include them all the all my findings in a future comparison that i will be doing with this device. So no wireless charging but at least we have that 25 watt fast charging so this device should charge in about an hour if you use an appropriate charger.
There you have it this is a super quick look at one of the latest mid-range devices from Samsung. The Samsung galaxy A53 I will be making more review I will be talking about the performance. I will check out the battery life, will check out the cameras, in some upcoming review. as well but for now this is how the device looks and a quick idea of how it performs.
Thanks for joining and I’ll see you guys in the next one.
